1.Problem Statement
- The e-challans have become increasingly popular in India. Especially in the state of Hyderabad, they are now fully functional Earlier when this system was not present, a person would have to go through a lot of hassle to pay their challans. Now they can pay the money due with challans at the spot. The government of Hyderabad has enabled this system for this purpose with the help of PDAs.
- Along with this new hassle less challan payment system there is also an online wing to check the status. This means that if there is a traffic offence registered under your vehicle, you can check it online. All the details including the fine amount, the nature of the traffic offence and the total amount of fine paid, will be shown there in that government database which you can access.
But there are two distinctive types of challans that you must be aware of –
- Investigative: The investigative of challan is created when the investigation cameras have caught you breaking some road rules. These challans print the defilement pictures mechanically and they are printed out on challan itself electronically.
- Digital camera: This type of challan is cut when the cops on-field take pictures of you doing the deed. They maintain these pictures for their future reference and the defilement is then given a challan.
The cops at Hyderabad have kept records of all the defilements or e-challans that have been committed recently.
2.Goals and Objectives
Our main goal is to replace these handicams and digital cameras with the usual cameras of android or IOs smartphones with our software installed in it. It will shift all the manual work to automatic.What has actually been done lately is quite manual . Yes! Some cities have opted for automatic surveillance IP cameras, but this is not possible in many of the remote areas.So our software will be really helpful for those doing manual work
Also, the state governments are spending a hefty sum of money on sanctions for these digital cameras for the traffic police department. Our model will totally reduce this cost to zero as it is just a small thing of installing a software in your phone you use in your daily life and youre good to go then. NO hustle of carrying such huge cameras with you all time and no stress of maintaining the record as it will be done automatically
In addition with, many a times , it has happened the case of WRONG CHALLAN , so to avoid such cases , mismatches of the challan amount with the person concerned , our software will work to be fruitful

System Architecture
This system architecture actually tells the way our software is going to work. Firstly our target object i.e. the number plate here is detected , then it follows with capturing the image. Once the image was captured , then our target number plate, out of which the number is extracted after the noise removal. This number is directly sent to the database where all the required information for the challan will be stored and after it fetches the record, it registers itself in the database and further we can do the needful out of that .
Proposed System
Our main motto is to replace these handicaps or digital cameras with the cameras in the smartphones. But how are we going to do that ??
To be put in a simple way, We are going to develop a software for the smartphone itself in which will detect the number from the number plate captured from the camera and it will automatically register itself in our database, and after fetching all the required information from our database, it will send the E-challan notification and message to the person concerned
